I wake up drenched
My life escaping
     Gushing
               Pouring
                         Flooding
From a small cut in my nose
It’s on my face
It’s on my hands
The pool of crimson grows
I wake up drenched
          I wake up soaked
               I wake up yet again
I wake up and I wake up
Always dying in my bed
I wake up unable to move
This time it’s gushing down –
                    Down my throat and
          Down my thoughts and
Splashing on my tongue
Like dirty copper
Bitter, sweet
It fills my lungs all night
     I wake up
                         bleeding,
          dying

     Helpless

Drowning in my life
