My name is Adam J. Manley. I’m an aspiring filmmaker. From Oregon, originally, but now I’m living in Tacoma, Washington. This is my life.
ADAM: What’s today’s date?
DAD: Ha ha ha! The eighth.
ADAM: The eighth. September, right?
DAD: Yes.
ADAM: It is September 8th, 2007, and we are now pulling out of the parking spot by the house. Officially settting forth…
[TRUCK CLUNKS AND STOPS]
[DAD SNICKERS]
ADAM: ah, in the…motion of moving out of the house. If, ah, this truck doesn’t stall.
Driving down the driveway, leaving…leaving the home I have lived in for over 22 years, now.
DAD: And you know it’s official because he’s taking the computer with him.
ADAM: It’s true! The computer is packed up in the back of the truck, as well as my bed, clothing, and such. And, ah, while there is still quite a bit come back and get, we are now off the property and for all intents and purposes, I no longer live at, uh, on Cedar Rock Farm.
DAD: I always knew this day would come, that he’d run away from home. Well, as Art said when I offered to take his old–borrow his old computer from him, “As long as you don’t bring it back.”
[ADAM LAUGHS]
ADAM: So! Now just, ah, three hours to Tacoma, to where I will be living for the next few months.
DAD: And Adam, it’s not that, uh, we don’t want YOU back…just not your stuff.
ADAM: Well. Goodbye, Cedar Rock Farm. Hello, future!
