My name is Adam J. Manley. I’m an aspiring filmmaker. From Oregon, originally, but now I’m living in Tacoma, Washington. This is my life.
Well, I am standing outside Mt. Scott Medical Center, of Kaiser Permanente, and the reason I have cotton balls in my ears is because I just had my ears cleaned.
I opted not to videotape the cleaning itself. Doctor places make me a little uneasy.
This is just absolutely amazing. I can HEAR. Even with these cotton balls in, everything is really, really clear. I can hear the rattling of my bag as I walk.
I’ve taken out the cotton balls just in time to walk into a cacophony of noise. I have to say, it’s an interesting experience. I’m actually finding myself hyper-aware of every single sound around me. Like, amidst all this construction noise, and stuff? I am also hearing, like, the bird chirping on the light pole above me. And…in general, this is a very interesting experience…and I quite like it! I quite like being able to HEAR again. Even when some of the noises kinda…hurt, if I get too close. But that’s construction work, for you, eh?
So, my ears are clean. Just in time for me to move. Then I have to come back for more doctor’s appointments next week and the week after. But! I can hear, and that is a good way to get a fresh start.[/spoiler]
