I didn’t watch Mean Girls when it first came out. In fact, it took me until just prior to the 10th anniversary to finally get around to seeing it. In the meantime, I’d been inundated with quotes, references, and memes from what has become a cultural classic to my generation. When I finally saw it, I couldn’t believe it had taken me so long to get around to seeing it. I hadn’t been avoiding it, but it wasn’t high enough on my “to see” list to make it a cinematic priority. Once I experienced what many around me already had, I found myself delighting in and propogating all those quotes, references, and memes. So here we are, with me living a life in which October 3rd can’t pass without this quote, and Wednesdays make me think I should be wearing pink.
